The Company purchased a vehicle monitoring system
from Minor Planet in 2008. It provides the owner with not only history but up
to date monitoring of every vehicle in the fleet.
This ensures that drivers
comply with speed limit restrictions, driving hours and other Occupation Health
and Safety issues and Main Roads Legislations.
Maintenance of vehicles are managed through the
Minor Planet and workshop computer system.
With a big variety of manufacturers of the prime
movers and trucks in the Company, fleet mechanics are expected to have the most
up to date technology to assist diagnose and rectify any service issues.
The
Company invests in training staff in the use of the modern technology. Some of
this requires spending time with vehicle manufacturers.
The Company Fleet Management System reports on a
timely basis all vehicle licensing renewals. In addition, the Company holds a
number of transport industry licenses, such as Dangerous Goods and various types
of special Permits for a variety of requirements such as oversize loads or mine
site entry.
These licensing and permits, along with drivers licensing renewal
dates and medicals are recorded on the Fleet Management System.
The Company operates a reporting system whereby
every truck starts the day with a specified list of vehicle checks. These are
recorded on the Fleet management system. During the hours of operation any
abnormalities are reported to Company mechanics for immediate rectification,
this is recorded in the Fleet Management System.
